Ted and Sandra Smith at Harbour House welcome you to Whitby. Harbour House is in a fine Victorian terrace overlooking Whitby?s Upper Harbour on the River Esk. There are wonderful views of Whitby Abbey and Whitby's town centre is only a 5 minute walk away. There is private parking in front of Harbour House.
Harbour House is the perfect accommodation from which to explore Whitby and the surrounding area including the North Yorkshire Moors Robin Hood's Bay Sandsend Staithes and the Esk Valley. Whitby has a great maritime heritage is still a working fishing town and the iconic ancient Abbey proudly overlooks the harbour. The North Yorkshire Moors offer rambles for families and more exciting routes for experienced walkers. There are charming villages to be discovered by railway or car and the steam trains often pass in front of the Terrace. Fossil hunting is very popular on this part of the picturesque North Yorkshire Dinosaur coast and you can enjoy Whitby?s sandy Blue Flag beaches. There are many festivals and events in Whitby throughout the year including Whitby Regatta and Folk Week. There re two Goth weekends and a Bram Stoker Film Festival. Musicport has returned to Whitby with its special offer of world music. We can direct you to the nearby filming locations for ?Heartbeat?. The North Yorkshire Steam Railway runs throughout the summer from Whitby to Pickering. The Esk Valley Railway travels up the beautiful Esk Valley stopping at many of the villages. Enter Whitby via the A171. Straight across at the traffic lights at the T-junction. Go down Waterstead Lane. Down the hill just before the bend take a narrow left hand turn onto a gravel track at the front of Esk Terrace. Harbour House is approximately half way along with the parking space on the right under the first tree. From Whitby train or bus stations: turn right out of the train station and left up Windsor Terrace. Keep right up the hill left along the gravel track to number 17;
